[17/01/2010] Advances in the websites technology

Web development is a vast area in the field of websites. It has many stages and sectors.  It mainly deals with the development of websites on the internet.  This includes several industries as the e-commerce business and web design. "Web development" usually refers to the non-designing work as writing and coding. Web development ranges from developing the simplest web page to the high end websites which involves many applications and services. A web development group consists of few hundreds of people to thousands for their work. Smaller organizations may require few people on contract basis. There are few secondary related jobs as graphic designers and technicians. Web development can be combined work rather than a specific designated field.

Since 1990s, web development has increased drastically. In 2005 there were over 30,000 web development companies in the U.S. alone. The web development sector has been projected to grow by 25% next year. The growth of web development is result of the increasing demand. For businesses it has become the need of the hour to be dependent on the websites. Web site development and hosting prices has dropped gradually. Instead of costing thousands of dollars now a person can develop a website for an economical price. One can now develop a simple web site for less than a thousand dollars. It also depends on the type of website he or she wants to develop.

The next generation of web development tools uses the strong growth in LAMP, Java Platform, Enterprise Edition technologies and Microsoft .NET technologies to provide the Web as a way to run applications online. Web developers now help to deliver applications as Web services which were traditionally only available as applications on a desk based computer. Instead of running executable code on a local computer, users are interacting with online applications to create new content. This has created new methods in communication and allowed for many opportunities to decentralize information and media distribution. Users are now able to interact with applications from many locations, instead of being tied to a specific workstation for their application environment.

Medium size Web site development companies are now able to provide web design services to both smaller companies and individuals. More over they are acting as a catalyst for the industry. As far as web development tools and platforms are concerned, there are many systems available to the public free of charge to aid in development. The best examples are Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP which are usually distributed free of charge. This has made people develop their own websites as per their requirement and brought a revolution into this industry.

Another important thing has been the use of web development software’s which are Adobe Dreamweaver, Netbeans and Microsoft Expression Studio. Use of such software’s can help anyone develop a Web page. These types of software’s are very easy to learn hence it helps in building a web page. Users no more stress on HTML or other programming languages as many other software’s have been developed.  The e-commerce industry has brought a revolution in the online marketing industry as Amazon.com and Ebay.com employs best technology. This industry will be developing to achieve new heights.
