[19/01/2010] Significance of Color Concepts in Web Design

Your website is the reflection of your persona in the internet world and communicates in various manners to the visitor. One such important aspect of web design concept is the use of colors. The colors of a website design too have implications of different moods and associations on the virtual world the way they have their impact on the real life situations.

A good web design is designed in consonance with these implications and effects the colors have on the overall look of the website. A web design in London also understands the awareness of the various color combinations to be used in showcasing the good appearance of one’s website. Though a website is created with 256 colors or more in the text, image graphics or the background, what is more important is the overall impact and affect the colors leave on the visitor, apart from their compatibility with many operating systems or monitors.

The concept of color cannot be underestimated in the web designing process and good color combination is the mark of the web development in the long run. A professional web design will attempt to avoid half tones or any hesitations that come in the way of experimentation with colors, so it can even go for 116 color palettes to optimize the website look.
A good designed website will not only concentrate on the other important aspects involved in the web designing but will accessorize the website look with smart color combination to reflect those inner emotions and eventually influence the visitor to go for the product or service, one wants to sell thereof.

A single color cannot be relied upon to give the visitor the feeling of trust. Various colors are incorporated in a website design to invoke a positive response from the people to make them stay and return again. Different colors represent different meanings viz. peace, power, purity, simplicity, elegance, freshness, victory, trust, etc. For instance, Red is associated with passion, audacity and signifies “danger”, “stop”, etc; Green promotes freshness, simplicity, security, money, etc; Yellow signifies motility; Blue signifies serenity, trust, importance, and victory; Black is associated with helplessness or doom; Purple implies royalty and justice; whereas Neon colors are meant for youngsters and neutral colors for elderly people normally.

The color concept is not a perfect field of science as it varies from situation to situation or from region to region, and differs for different perceptions the visitors would have about the product or service. To decide on which colors or combinations would go best for your website design, one should understand who his target customers are. This depends on the age group you want to deal with or particular segment like males or females or a section of executives or blue color workers, etc. The proper color coordinating concepts used with intelligence convey a big message for the successful running of your website.
