ASP acronyms for Active Server Pages, it is also called as ASP classic or sometimes Classic ASP. It was first server-side script engine of Microsoft for generating
dynamic web pages. Firstly, it was released as theme that enhances the applications of IIS (Internet Information Services) by option pack of Windows NT 4.0. It was then included as a component with no charges. Now-a-days it is superseded by ASP.NET. ASP's developing functionality is enabled by active scripting engine that is a support of Component Object Model (COM). Every object provides a group of functions and attributes.
Web pages which have .asp extension use the ASP, although some
websites alter their choices due to some security reasons. ASP is still in use in
web design but PHP is more popular.
