[01/12/2009] Attachment (email)

The file that is sent attached with an e-mail (email) is called an email (e-mail) attachment. The attached file is in the context of the message sent along with and it is a complete stand alone file. The message attached may be either encrypted or not and can be sent in the form of – uuencoding, quoted- printable, binhex or base64. In the case of MIME, the attached message act as a part of the main message and it basically uses base64 encoding for the attachments not containing the text but some other type of files.

But there is always a possibility of receiving different viruses and worms in the form of attachment. So, you must carefully explore an attachment after verifying everything.
