IP: Internet Protocol is the general abbreviation of IP. It is a protocol that is used for making a communication for exchanging data over a packet-switched inter-network using the TCP/IP. IP is Internet protocol suite consists of Internet Layer and IP is primary protocol in this layer. Task of IP is delivering of data packers from source point to destination point which have their unique address. To achieve this IP defines structures for data packets and addressing methods. IPv4 (Protocol version 4), dominant protocol, is one of the major addressing structure. Its successor, IPv6 (version 6) is under deployment worldwide. IP provides abstraction by encapsulation, so it can be used for heterogeneous network. IP addressing and its routing are most complex aspects of IP. Addressing describes a destination host become given IP addresses. IP is sometime used in
web design to trace a user on a website.
