In order to the process of identification and authorization, Media Access Control address (MAC address) is used in case of computer networking. It is used by the manufacturers and Network Interface Cards (NICs) or the network adapters. It is also used in the sublayer – Media Access Control protocol. In the process of identification, MAC encrypts the identification number of the manufacturer. It has several names like adapter address, physical address, hardware address or Ethernet Hardware Address (EHA).IEEE managed three numbering space in context to MAC address – MAC-48, EUI-48 and EUI-64. As mentioned, it is a unique identifier, therefore, it can tell the host which is present on a particular layer at a particular time.
