Switch: It is known as a networking switch or simply switch is a computer networking device. Switch is used for connecting the networking segments. Network bridges that routes and process data at the layer 2 (Data Link Layer) of OSI model. Which switches work on layer 3 (Network Layer) are referred as multilayer switches or Layer 3 switches.The network switch plays an important part in LANs (local area networks). Single switch is used typically for SOHO (Small office/home office) applications. Switches can be operated at one or more layers of OSI model that includes data link, physical, transport or network. Device which operates at one or more of these layers are called as multilayer switch.
